Maps and Directions
Familiarise yourself with the surrounding area using Google Street View:
For most routes by car, it is best to first locate the large roundabout underneath the A232 Croydon Flyover.
From this roundabout proceed in the direction of Mitcham along the dual carriageway A236 'Old Town' past the Croydon Fire Station on the left. Keeping in the right hand lane, pass two light-controlled pedestrian crossings, soon coming to another set of lights at the junction with Rectory Grove which joins from the left. The A236 now becomes 'Roman Way' and the tower of Croydon Minster (formerly Croydon Parish Church) will be clearly visible to the right at this point.
After passing the Rectory Grove junction, stay in the extreme right-hand land which has its own set of lights. (It is only possible to turn right from this lane.) When the lights permit, cross over the opposite carriageway of the A236 and as the road bears to the left do not turn left, but keep in the right-hand lane (one-way system) which is clearly signposted to Centrale Car Park and Croydon Minster, before soon passing close to the white-fenced site of the former Reeves Furniture Store. Here is another set of lights where it is often necessary to wait for trams to pass. Cross straight over these lights and you will be in Tamworth Road, which is also a one-way street. Keep to the right-hand side of the road to avoid the bus/tram lane and in a short while you will reach the chapel on the right. The chapel has its own car park which is just before the building itself.
If the chapel car park happens to be full, carry on past the chapel and turn left into Drayton Road where there is pay-and-display parking. Alternatively carry on up Tamworth Road to the Centrale multi-storey car park on the right.
If approaching from the direction of Mitcham, the A236 'Roman Way' passes over the Waddon to West Croydon railway line. After crossing the bridge, keep in the extreme left-hand lane to join traffic crossing from the opposite carriageway. As the road bears to the left, join the right hand lane beside the white-fenced site of the former Reeves Furniture Store and proceed as described above.
For those using Satellite Navigation systems the chapel postcode is CR0 1XW.
If you are travelling by train, the chapel is very close to West Croydon Station (3-5 minutes walk following the tram lines down Tamworth Road). It is also 10-15 minutes walk from East Croydon Station. If walking from here simply follow the tram lines down George Street, Crown Hill and Church Street and round into Tamworth Road (following the right hand fork of the tram tracks). It is also possible to take a tram in this direction from East Croydon Station to the tram stop in Church Street (second stop) and walk into Tamworth Road (again following the right hand fork of the tram tracks).
Croydon Tramlink has stops in Church Street, Cairo New Road and Tamworth Road, each about 100 metres or so from the chapel.
There is a bus stop in Tamworth Road opposite the chapel for the following routes:
157 from Morden; 264 from Tooting; 407 from Sutton; 410 and 455 from Wallington; 645 from Courtney Road.
The request stop in Drummond Road behind the chapel is for:
157 and 410 from Crystal Palace; 407 from Caterham; 455 and 645 from Purley.
There is an additional request stop for route 264 from West Croydon in the short section of Church Street opposite the white-fenced site of the former Reeves Furniture Store.
